Bruce Tedder

Lifelong surfer, sailor and ocean adventurer living in Hout Bay.

I was a superyacht captain in the 80’s and 90’s operating vessels in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Asia-Pacific areas. For the past 25 years I have been very involved in the yacht broking and boating business in Cape Town and was privileged to be one of the founders of the original Robben Island Ferry Company in 1997.

I am the current Chairman of SABBEX (South African Boatbuilders Export Council) after founding it in 2004. I am honoured to be a Trustee of SAORT (South African Ocean Racing Trust) the HBYSDT (Hout Bay Youth Sailing Development Trust) and SOA (Sentinel Ocean Alliance).

My passion lies with empowering the ocean minded youth and as a founder of BlueCape and the current President of the Hout Bay Surf Lifesaving Club we are forging ahead with our goal of creating meaningful career paths in the Cape’s ocean economy.

 

Vanessa Davidson

My ocean life started with the National Sea Rescue Institute where I was a volunteer crew member at Bakoven and Hout Bay and one of the first female rescue swimmers in the 1990s.

I worked on luxury charter boats in the Caribbean, Seychelles and Mallorca before returning to South Africa and joining the Whisper Boat Building Academy for the Deaf.

This led to opportunities in the Cape Town Boat Builders Export Council and I was the founding CEO of the Marine Industry Association of South Africa.

Networking and solution seeking is my passion and I am currently the Chairman of the International Marine Certification Institute, responsible for marine CE certification globally.

 

Paula Giusti

I have a BSC Hons in Marketing and my strength and passion is to connect people, create opportunities and open new markets.

I have been working in the maritime sector for more than 22 years and had the opportunity to get in involved in various aspects of the Shipping Industry. I attended the Monaco Boat Show several times, saw the incredible potential that South Africa has to cater for the Superyacht niche sector and started promoting Cape Town as a yacht destination.

I am currently working independently in various industries and I am grateful to contribute in a meaningful way to the Blue Ocean’s economy through BlueCape.
